Moments of Opportunity: Engaging Kairos in the Classroom

Abstract

This essay asserts studying kairos—an ancient rhetorical concept that describes the right time or opportune moment—is beneficial for analyzing current events with students and constructing fruitful in-class interactions. After briefly describing how kairos has been variously defined and used in the field of rhetoric and composition, I discuss how we might engage kairos in the classroom.
